2024 Meisner Acting Courses in Melbourne and Sydney.
The Meisner Technique essentially trains you to live truthfully, moment to moment in a state of aliveness. What actor doesn't want to be able to call on that with ease and freedom?
We offer modular blocks of training in Melbourne and Sydney. Each of the modules is designed to build on the previous foundations, therefore Modules 2 & 3 are by invitation only.
If you are completely new to the technique, you need to start with Module 1. If you have previously trained in the technique, please get in touch to discuss the best options for you.
The Given Set of Circumstances takes the Technique forward to work with 'the givens' of performance. This includes "investing in the realities of doing" - the heart of any actor's work.
This workshop is the perfect next step for actors familiar with the founding exercises of the Meisner Technique, but yet to approach working with text. The focus will be on discovering how this Technique transforms an actor’s work with text with particular attention given to text analysis and scene exploration.
We take a script + Impulse actors + 5 days of rehearsal and finish with an electric and connected sharing of the work in our ‘Not-a-Performance’ open showing. Scott chooses a play based on the specific group enrolled in the course. You play as cast, making discoveries along the way, aided by the techniques we teach.
Sanford Meisner defined acting as “living truthfully under a given set of circumstances.” In this introductory course, you will delve into this concept, from Repetition foundations through to working with text - all in an intense, joyous, and transformative 5 days.
You will explore a specific set of exercises developed by Sanford Meisner and distilled by Scott Williams, all designed to connect you to your emotional truth and ‘live in the moment’. You will cover the foundation exercises and move into working with text.
